I realize it’s only June, but I am in full 4th of July mode over here! I love everything about the 4th, so this months Junk Revision project was extra fun to put together! Our theme this time was “patriotic” and I don’t know about the other ladies, but I was coming up with tons of ideas.
I decided to use this cute little drawer. It must have come out of an old sewing machine or something. I have had it sitting in my garage for almost a year now, so it was definitely time to put it to good use.
I quickly gave the drawer a light coat of white chalk paint. You don’t need to worry about brush marks or even coverage here because it will be sanded down for an antique look.
Once my paint was dry, I gave the drawer a light sanding.
To cover the bottom of the tray, I cut a scrap piece of fabric and stuck it down with scrapbook tape. This way, I can change out the fabric for different seasons.
That’s it! I then filled my drawer with some fun goodies I picked up in the dollar bin.
Does anybody else have a paper straw addiction? I think I have some in every color now. Funny thing is, I don’t like to use them. I just decorate with them.
These cute little tags are from Oriental Trading, but you could make your own with scrapbook paper.
The little silverware caddy was picked up for a dollar at my thrift store. I painted it white and added a piece of scrapbook paper to the front to match my patriotic theme.
This drawer just seems to make the whole look come together. I think I will be leaving it out even after the 4th is over.
How do you decorate for the 4th?
